What is overpotential?

Answer: Every pair of electrodes have a threshold potential to be activated, that is, to start the reactions. The overpotential is the extra potential applied on top of the threshold potential. So, the applied potential is always bigger than the overpotential.

Schmidt number is a dimentionless number. It is the ratio of Viscosity and Mass Diffusivity. In other words, Schmidt number denotes how many times higher the value of the Momentum diffusivity from Mass diffusivity.
